Christmas 2021


I can't believe Christmas has come and gone again! I struggled to get into the Christmas spirit this year with the move and everything else going on.  That's the great thing about having kids though they make every holiday come to life and seem magical. We did advent calendars and made cookies and treats and took them around the neighborhood.  We put up lights, picked out a tree, finished our Christmas shopping and even made a blanket for dad for his present this year.  We got lots of snow this year just in time for a White Christmas. We did the traditional Brubaker Christmas dinner which is preacher's delight.  Just as we had taken care of all of the kids needs and we sat down to take our first bite of delicious Christmas Eve Dinner Henry knocked his egg nog over and we had to clean it up! Another interruption before we could finally enjoy our meal.  You have to expect the unexpected with kids and know that the work will never be done.  We had lots of hot chocolate and lots of hot chocolate spills in the month of December and lots of other spills all the other months! It seems our life right now is endless noises and messes but we love it.  

Christmas Day we drove up to Rexburg to spend the week with family. We stopped at Grandma Karen and Grandpa Jerry's house first to see everyone and then made our way up to Grandma Tami and Grandpa Adam's house.  We always have so much fun up there with all the little cousins their same age and getting some adult time with Ben's brothers and their wives.

No more diapers!

 For nearly 10 years I have kept a blog called The Diaper Diaries documenting our life with little ones and we have been a diaper free home for about 4 months now.  Time is a thief.  I can barely remember those diaper days now and I'm so grateful I kept up my blog so faithfully during the cutest years of their life.  Having babies was a magical time. And now we are in the sweet spot of childhood where we mostly sleep through the night and we can send them downstairs to play loudly by themselves without the constant supervision that toddlers and babies require. I love being a stay at home mom.  I had no idea I would like it so much but I do.  Last year I did a homeschool preschool with Briscoe using course work from a company called the Good and the Beautiful and it was really fun.  Since I wasn't able to get Belle into a preschool this year I am doing the same program with her this year and so far we are enjoying it.  I also signed her up for some...

Peter and Henry like to make sure their hair is always looking perfect for school.  I have enstilled this in them and I'm glad they like to look nice.  I just wish Peter would let me help him style his hair lol.  Sometimes he likes to slick it straight down the sides and it looks a little funny.  He was helping Henry style his curls one morning and I caught him making these funny faces.  They crack me up.  Peter even did Briscoe's hair and then Briscoe slicked it to the side so then Henry fixed it for him and the little rascal ran back in the bathroom and slicked it to the side again.  I fixed it for him and he sure enough he did it again. Finally it was time to go and there was no time to fix his hair and suddenly my cute little rascal was sad that he had kept messing it up in an attempt to be silly.  So I quickly fixed it with my fingers and helped him get his shoes on the right feet.   It's so nice having a our basement finished!
