Briscoe's Baptism
Briscoe Benjamin Brubaker was baptized by his dad this last sunday august 18,2024. What a special day it was for our family. I can always feel the Holy Ghost so strong right after each of my kids confirmations and I was once again moved to tears with the powerful feeling of my little boy Briscoe receiving the Holy Ghost and making this sacred covenant to follow Jesus Christ.
His big brother Henry gave a talk on baptism and then was a witness along with grandpa Adam. Henry was excited to be a witness to Briscoe's baptism. So many people were excited for Briscoe. Peter's friend Sewell told me right after church how excited he was for Briscoe to get baptized it was really sweet.
As they were getting out of the font Ben said 'Briscoe now you're baptized!' and Briscoe did a fist pump and said 'yes!' He has been so excited to get baptized.
Peter gave a talk on the Holy Ghost and did a fun object lesson where he had Briscoe throw him Henry's stuffed sheep and he didn't catch it. He proceeded to talk about receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Anne Miller sent me a text with notes from Briscoe's confirmation:
Confirm you a member of the church. Give unto you the gift of the Holy Ghost. Bless you that your heart, mind and body will accept the teachings of the Holy Ghost. Bless you to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Give unto you a blessing with the ability to follow these promptings. Bless you that you will be a follower of Jesus Christ, that you will discern holiness and righteousness. You have been given a wonderful gift and powerful blessing. Bless you to seek after the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
Grandpa Jerry, Grandpa Adam, Brian Critchfield and Jeremy Bennett all stood in the circle with Ben to confirm him a member of the church and give him the gift of the Holy Ghost. All amazing men and great examples for my sweet boy.
I was a little grumpy that I was asked to speak in sacrament the same day as Briscoe's baptism, but I did feel extra help as I gave my talk and like the inspiration just flowed. Peter asked if I even had a paper to read off of because I made eye contact the entire time. I was amazed at how the words and scriptures came so naturally to my mind. I felt good about it afterwards so it was an all around special day.
We had lunch afterwards at our house with grandparents and the Bennett's and Critchfields who drove quite a long ways to be there. We always love spending time with family.
